The 6th generation R1, designated 14B, was launched in 2009, and was quite unlike any R1 previously. Significantly it had a crossplane crankshaft motor, with an uneven firing order, which gave it an engine note unlike any other. Whilst still an in-line 4 configuration, these bikes sound uncannily similar to a big twin, and not at all like a ‘normal’ in-line 4
This particular bike is one of the very last 14Bs, registered in 2014 just prior to the introduction of the 2015 model year 2CR. As such it has 7-level traction control, along with 3-level D-Mode electronic throttle response control, YCC-T – Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle, YCC-I – Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake, YHSJ suspension – Yamaha Hydraulic System Japan, Radially mounted 6 piston calipers and radial master cylinder, Lightweight 5 spoke wheels and a Yamaha Electronic Engine Immobiliser
